t was a slow morning. We asked for a late check out and the hotel gave us until 1:30p. We still had to resupply, prep our food bags, pack up and get out. It took so long, we weren’t able to make the service like we were hoping. After the 1:30p time, we moved to the lobby to eat down some of the food that Wonder Mom had brought us. Then we piled back in to the Corolla and out to the trail head.

It was 5p when we got back out on the trail. It had been raining, but broke in time for us to get our six miles in. At 7:30p we set up camp in some phenomenal forests. We were right next to a river. Our site was all pine trees. Needles softened the earth and put a delicious scent in the air.  I felt lucky to be sleeping there.

We ate quickly and finished our food in our tent because the rains were starting up again. This week is looking like it’s going to be wet. I’m not overly excited for it, but know it’s part of the hike.

We went to bed a little late, 9:30a. However, it seems to be about the regular now. It rained for most of the night and, incredibly, I had one of my top three nights of sleep on the trail. I was warm, comfortable, and oh so relaxed. Unfortunately for Warthog, he had one of his worst.
